Dear Educators and Partners,
As Vlume reached its tenth anniversary earlier this year, we found ourselves reflecting on everything we’ve experienced and learned together. While a decade suggests maturity and settled accomplishments, we’re really just beginning to scratch the surface of what’s possible. Over these years, we’ve built the largest digital library of Armenian literature—audiobooks, ebooks, and animated content—working with hundreds of creative professionals and partnering with publishers globally. Our focus has ranged from republishing classical Armenian literature with modern illustrations and digital formats to publishing translations and new Armenian authors, either directly or through our partners. Vlume platform has been continuously improved to reach readers across mobile and web devices, serving tens of thousands where they are. We’ve also valued working with educational partners like you, who’ve integrated our platform into classrooms and institutions—your needs and insights have directly shaped our priorities, functionality, and the content we develop.
Problem Ahead
Despite our collective efforts, we’ve been hearing your concerns loud and clear: we’re losing young readers. The gap between what engages today’s children and what’s available in Armenian literature has grown over decades, and at times it has felt overwhelming. While classics have helped us preserve our heritage and inspire select readers, and while translations and new authors have helped to add breadth, they haven’t provided the scale or variety needed to truly capture young generations across interest groups. We need stories and books that make Armenian reading feel like a genuine discovery and excitement for everyone with no exceptions.
Our Approach
We are excited to share that we’re tackling this challenge head-on. With the generous support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, we’ve launched a three-year initiative to create hundreds of new children’s books.
Vlume Children Books Catalog
The attached catalog represents our first wave: several series spanning science, sports, nature, and imaginative fiction that thoughtfully incorporates Armenian themes and values.
These are original works, carefully designed with age-appropriate themes, vocabulary, and illustrations to both engage and educate young readers. Our approach has been to build scalable publication frameworks that enable our creators to innovate with clear goals and direction while iterating and improving with the guidance and support of our production team. We are deeply grateful to the teachers who’ve joined our publication efforts and to our dedicated team who continues to pour energy into this work. Since launching in March, we’ve been publishing a new title each week and are working to scale even further.
